In its June 2026 Labour Force Survey, Statistics Canada reported that Canadian employment was nearly unchanged from the previous month, increasing by 18,000, while the unemployment rate declined by 10 basis points to 6.5%. Employment in transportation and warehousing increased for the second consecutive month, rising by 44,700 compared to June 2025, while manufacturing employment declined from the previous month and is down 61,000 from its January 2025 peak amid ongoing tariff-related uncertainty.
